Initial Approach

A beauty retail customer contacted WOW DISPLAY while looking for a customized nail polish display stand for an upcoming in-store promotion. The customer had a large collection of nail polish shades and wanted to present them together in one attractive retail display.

After reviewing several of our previous cosmetic display projects, the customer was particularly interested in our experience designing displays for products with multiple colors and variations. However, she had not yet decided what type of structure would work best for her collection.

During our initial discussion, we learned that the customer wanted more than a conventional cosmetic display rack. She needed a display that could accommodate many nail polish bottles while allowing shoppers to see and compare different colors easily.

Our sales team introduced several display structures, including standard multi-shelf units and stepped displays. After comparing their layouts, we recommended a tiered nail polish display stand because it would make better use of the available space while keeping individual bottles visible.

The customer liked the idea but wanted to understand whether a stepped structure could accommodate the entire collection without making the display look overcrowded.

This became the starting point for the project.

Customer's Specific Requirements

As the discussion continued, the customer shared more information about her nail polish collections and the way the products would be presented in stores.

The collection included pastel shades, glitter finishes, darker colors, and several promotional product lines. Although the bottles had similar shapes, the different colors needed to be arranged clearly so shoppers could recognize each collection.

One concern was that bottles placed in the back rows might be hidden behind those in front. The customer also wanted store employees to replenish the display without having to rearrange large numbers of products.

Our team reviewed these concerns and summarized the main requirements:

Product capacity: Accommodate a large assortment of nail polish bottles within one freestanding display.

Color visibility: Keep individual shades visible, including bottles positioned toward the back.

Product classification: Separate different nail polish collections to make shopping and replenishment easier.

Brand presentation: Integrate promotional graphics and collection information into the display structure.

The customer also emphasized the importance of appearance. Since the display would be placed in the beauty retail section, she wanted something colorful and attractive without making the product arrangement look messy.

After discussing these requirements, we agreed to develop a stepped display structure with separate product sections and a large advertising header.

Project Team and Solution Development

Once the display direction was confirmed, our sales team passed the product requirements to WOW DISPLAY's design and engineering team.

The first task was to determine how the nail polish bottles could be arranged across multiple levels while keeping the display compact enough for retail use.

Our designers proposed a structure with stepped shelves extending outward from a central display body. Each shelf would contain dedicated bottle positions, while the different sections could be used to separate collections.

We explained the design concept to the customer and discussed how shoppers would see the products from different angles.

The customer was particularly interested in the stepped arrangement because it allowed more bottles to remain visible than a conventional flat-shelf structure. However, she wanted to make sure the individual collections would not become mixed together.

To address this, our designers incorporated printed collection labels along the shelf fronts. Sections such as All Pastels, Glam Sequins, and Dark Romance could be clearly identified, helping customers locate the colors they wanted.

We also developed a large promotional header featuring beauty imagery and campaign graphics.

After reviewing the proposed layout, the customer agreed that the design offered a good balance between product capacity and visual presentation.

With the main structure established, our team continued refining the bottle arrangement and display details.

Key Features of the Nail Polish Display Solution

The final design combines a high-capacity product layout with a distinctive stepped structure. Rather than treating the nail polish bottles as one large assortment, the display organizes them into separate sections while keeping the overall presentation visually connected.

1. Multi-Tier Stepped Shelves

The display features multiple stepped shelves arranged around the central structure. This allows products to be presented at different heights, giving shoppers a clearer view of the color selection.

During the design discussion, the customer had been concerned that the display might look overcrowded. The stepped arrangement helped address this by creating visual separation between rows of bottles.

2. Individual Nail Polish Bottle Holders

Each display level includes dedicated positions for individual bottles, helping keep products neatly arranged.

This detail was particularly important because nail polish bottles are small and can easily become disorganized when customers pick up different shades.

The individual positions also help store employees identify empty spaces during replenishment.

3. Separate Sections for Different Collections

The customer wanted different nail polish collections to remain easy to recognize.

Our designers therefore included collection labels along the shelf fronts, allowing pastel shades, glitter finishes, darker colors, and other product lines to be grouped separately.

This arrangement supports a more intuitive shopping experience, particularly for customers comparing several colors.

4. Integrated Brand Advertising

The large advertising header provides a prominent area for promotional imagery, while the lower panels and shelf fronts carry additional branding information.

Instead of placing advertising graphics around the display as separate elements, the design integrates them into the structure.

This helps the custom nail polish display stand function as both a product organizer and a promotional display for beauty retail stores.

Problem-Solving and Final Adjustments

As the design developed, the customer continued reviewing the display from the perspective of both shoppers and store employees.

One of the main questions was whether the stepped shelves would provide enough room for customers to remove individual bottles comfortably.

Our engineering team reviewed the spacing between product positions and the relationship between the different shelf levels. The objective was to maintain product visibility while providing practical access to the bottles.

Another discussion concerned the arrangement of different nail polish collections.

Because the customer planned to display multiple product lines together, the shelf-front graphics needed to be easy to recognize without drawing attention away from the products.

We refined the placement of collection names and promotional graphics so that the labels supported product organization rather than competing with the colorful bottles.

The customer also reviewed the overall appearance of the display, including the advertising header and lower branding panels.

These discussions helped establish a more balanced final layout, with the product assortment remaining the main focus.

After the design details were agreed upon, the project was ready to proceed to the next stage.

Project Outcome and Customer Feedback

The completed nail polish display stand successfully brought together a large product assortment, clearly organized color collections, and attractive promotional graphics. The stepped shelves made individual shades easier to view and compare, while the dedicated bottle holders helped maintain a neat and professional presentation in the retail store.

After receiving the display stands, the customer was pleased with the overall quality and appearance. She particularly appreciated how neatly the different nail polish collections were arranged and how well the finished display matched the approved design. The customer also expressed satisfaction with our team's communication, attention to detail, and willingness to make adjustments throughout the project. For her, the smooth cooperation was just as valuable as the finished product itself.

Conclusion

This nail polish display project demonstrates how a customized display structure can address the practical challenges of presenting a large cosmetic collection.

From the initial discussions about product visibility to the development of stepped shelves, individual bottle positions, and collection labels, the design was shaped around the needs of beauty retail merchandising.

At WOW DISPLAY, we understand that different cosmetic products require different approaches to display design. Nail polish, lipstick, skincare, and other beauty products vary in size, packaging, and shopping behavior, and these differences should influence the final structure.

With more than 15 years of experience in custom POP display design and manufacturing, our team works with brands and retailers to develop practical displays that combine product organization, visual appeal, and efficient retail presentation.
